I'm picking up a 2012 R172 SLK on Wednesday, sad to see my W204 go after all I did to it.

I've been looking around but can't seem to see much on this forum about spoilers/splitters/diffusers etc

Have we got any R172 owners on here that have dabbled in this sort of stuff?

I can only seem to find either the top price official MB kit which is bonkers money on the SLK or the really dirt cheap chinese stuff off ebay.

Any advice would be fantastic!

The quality of the materials would concern me as would the paint match and the ability to return a faulty or sub-standard part. The question is, is it worth a punt at that price? Just as a suggestion, it may be worth dropping a line/call to these guys Genuine Mercedes Spare Parts | Mercedes Spares | to see if they have a used genuine one or see if the dealer parts counter will do deal.

Yeah I wasn't sure if anyone else has tried the cheap Chinese copies before, I normally go for the parts counter at MB for my AMG bits. Guess I'm trying to do too many mods at once rather than spacing them out and paying for the quality haha!

Anyone tried these Chinese parts before?

As an aside ... are there any issues with adding extra weight to the bootlid? Thinking about operation of the roof etc.

Wondering if cheap parts might be heavier (plastic/fibreglass rather than carbon), which might not be good? :dk:

I know some cars with standard bootlids had different struts/springs if fitted with a factory spoiler.

That's a good shout I might have to investigate what material the genuine amg one is.
