Am I correct in assuming that removing the bumper inserts for the front parking sensors on an R230 is the same as a W211, i.e. prise the outer end of the insert from the fixed securing clips, then slide/pull/prise the entire insert sideways/outwards away from the centre of the bumper? It looks as though that is the case, but it's ferkin' tight and won't slide, and I don't want to start using violence until I'm sure that it's in the right direction...

I think it depends on age. Pretty sure that Model Year 2007 onward they are not separate on the front. And Model Year 2009 on the rear I think. But may have that mixed up.

Thanks for the reply. It's a 2004, and they are definitely separate. I can prise out the securing prongs at the outer end, but the damn thing doesn't want to let go further in ...

Stop Press: Thanks to the pictures of an insert for sale on eBay, it turns out it is NOT the same as a W211 on a 2004 R230; you simply prise the insert out of the bumper all along its length - and it hangs on like grim death! A set of nylon/plastic trim removal tools (£5 or so for a cheap set on eBay) are pretty much essential to avoid paintwork damage.
