Where can I source new (original) cherry red carpets for an R230 SL500 2003?

Just bought it so I may be a little dumb but when I press phone or volume controls on steering wheel the audio system only allows volume change by turning the knob and you can't switch between CD, Radio etc until you turn ignition off and on again.

I also have S430 but the SL is by far best car I have ever driven - totally lovely. Kicking myself I didn't get one before.

While I am on ... has anyone fitted seat belts in the 'back' I have two small boys who could potentially fit there.

Terry, the mats will be best bought from the dealer, about £40 if i remember correctly.

DO NOT PUT YOUR KIDS IN THE BACK !!! If there's an accident the rollover bar will shoot up and they WILL be hurt.

Best car I ever owned , congrats on buying one. :thumb:

Welcome to the forum and in answering your questions;

I bought my mats from ebay for £30 IIRC and they were genuine aswell.

To use the the volume buttons or any other buttons on the steering wheel, you need to make sure the in dash display has been switched to lets say radio/cd/telephone before they would work.

There are no rear seats at the back, just storage boxes and as has been said above after just experiencing this (accident), the roll bar could seriously do some damage.

Hope this helps.

PS: It is the best car I've ever owned...

Thanks - I will pop in to dealer and pick up some new carpets. I usually get a new steering wheel but my new one is like new so no need. Top tip that BTW for a couple hundred quid you are touching brand new leather. I did it on my Range Rover and it still makes me smile that I have same sensory experience as someone who paid £70,000 more than me for the car :)

I put the rollover bar up for the very short school run - sod the nanny state! It is fun!

After two days - I agree it is the best car I ever owned. Total quality. Says something that Steve Jobs FROM APPLEhad one for 6 years and he had $4,000,000,000 in the bank and could choose any car in the world. He was a fussy bugger too.

Are you saying you put one (or two) of your children behind the seats with no seat, no seatbelt and no restraint?

Thought I'd bump an old thread instead of creating a new one - can someone confirm how many mats the SL500 should have (2 or 4)?

Bought some mats from here - MERCEDES SL (R230) 2003 - Onwards Mats - thinking there were 5, and I've only been sent two. Either they've sent me the wrong order or they've misadvertised, but I wanted to find out before I get back to them about how many mats I expected.

Thanks!

My iPad used to change tracks with the steering wheel arrows and stopped suddenly anyone know why?
