My car has just been in as the a/c system failed due to blocked channels causing water to get into the electrics of the system (I think) and looks like they had quite a bit of a job to sort it out, pulling half the passenger side dash out etc.

Anyway, since I have had it back, when I use the 12v socket, I get mild interference on the radio - is there an obvious answer to why this is happening or is it a mystery problem that I should learn to live with?

Thanks

Good question!

No - it didn't

Where was the car repaired as i would take it back to them and explain to them that the problem was never there before.

Also if there was water getting to heating/ac i expect water to have gone into the electrics below the floor as the r class has a false floor in it which covers all the control units up so one of them may have water in it still

The most likely fault is a poorly remade earth connection when they were putting it back together.

RF interference is generally due to poor grounding....my two pence worth...I am a qualified heavy power electrical engineer although sometime I doubt myself!

Ask me a question about generating a couple of hundred mega watts of power on an offshore installation and I'm your man :-) or maybe I should stick to flying!!

Poor earthing gets my vote!

As said, if it didnt do it before, take it back to where the repair was carried out.
