Rant of the Day - Adrian Flux

If you get quotes then leave them for two or three weeks they usually go DOWN if you don't take them up straight away..which is why I do it a month or so before the old one expires.
Also don't forget that it's now against the law to give a new customer a lower quote than a current one for a like for like quote... something companies sometimes need reminding of that you get a cheaper one from your current company on a comparison site.
If my recent experience is anything to go by, a lot of companies seem to have 'overlooked' that little detail.

I went with Adrian Flux once; I needed insurance sorted quickly, using my mobile just before boarding the train, and expected there would be no hassle. There wasn't.

However, come renewal time they were massively uncompetitive, wouldn't budge on price, and I haven't bothered with them since. I've been with Admiral, multicar, for the last five years, chopping, adding and changing cars pretty often, and never had any hassle either. Added to which, come renewal time I can never find the same cover more than a few pounds if at all cheaper.
I’ve found the same with Admiral for the past eight years though it’s always taken a phone call to ‘make sure all the discounts have been applied’. Usually they haven’t and I get a few quid off.

I'm not a great fan of insurance brokers, nor indeed of insurers, however we should remember the difference between the two - Adrian flux is a broker:
Only there to make the introduction between the client and the insurer. Thus adding a layer of potential confusion and error.
Also, they are not able to offer insurance premiums that are not given by the insurers.

But they should be able to offer from the majority of the market, and should have the edge on non-standard or specialist vehicles.

But it’s not easy. My former IFA company had a general insurance (motor, household, travel etc) dept for a few years, and our staff did a phenomenal amount of work to get the best/lowest quote out. But we realised it was a self-defeating exercise - the better we did, the less we earned, a race to the bottom if you like, so we sold that part of the business.

I think that it has been a race to the bottom in the general insurance industry [and many other industries in the UK] for about the last 20 years - Price is all that seems to matter to most buyers and suppliers alike.

Last renewal, I ended up paying just over £300 less the same way.

Not sure about a "rant", look on the bright side.
They have let you know you were doing >25% more miles than declared.

Think about having to make a claim to then find out you were not covered!

Chalk it up and move on and at least you've saved some money on the renewal.
