I am pretty sure I know the answer to this already but on the off chance....

We recently bought an A-Class which is only 5 months old, but one irritating feature (or lack of) is the lack of reach adjustment on the steering wheel. There is the constant feeling when driving that you are reaching for the steering, or if your arms are comfortable then your legs are slightly cramped.

Anyone know if this can be retrofitted? It would make a big difference to our comfort.

It can be retrofitted if another model (same chassis) has it as an option. Steve "MBenzNL" K. fitted power adjustable steering reach to his W202 for which it was never an option but it was on the W210 :) . Apparently the parts were the same.

Don't think it will be a cheap job though as I imagine you will have to replace some pretty substantial components to do this. Take a look at the detali.ru site for some parts diagrams :)

many years ago we had our BMW converted, tilt and in/out reach... it worked a treat...

however, i have no idea which company it was that did it for us..

It is an optional extra on the A-Class from new (a bit cheekily in my view) and costs £115. I'll dig a bit further and post back my results. :)

Hi, is it possible to adjust the position of the steering wheel on a W202? Cannot find out how to do it.

Aha, does this mean I can't adjust the steering wheel at all?

If the lever is not there, then I am afraid it does mean that it is non adjustable

If it is a factory option in the same (or similar) car then it can be fitted at significant cost. I did the full motorised steering column to my W203. It took about 2 years to find the opportunity to buy what I was looking for and I grabbed it.

In the W169 and W245 (New A and Current B) the parts are very similar as they are both designated as W169 chassis (the part numbers for the vehicle shell).
