Really Need Help!!

really need help

i am so conviced i need this dump as i have a speedo with no chip soldered on it but i have a blank replacement chip but no software to program on to it
and i am really desperate for a dump to try and fix the speedo.

What you are trying to do is not possible by normal avenues. The place where they make the cluster will be able to do it.

You need the correct cluster in the first place really.

basically i could just do with the dump that is meant to go into the 93c86 chip so i can program it and put it back onto the clock pod so i can then get the mileage corrected without it costing me loads of money.

As BlackC55 intimated - this can only be done via a specialist as specialist knowledge, tools, diagnostics etc. are needed. Olly is an ex MB mechanic so (as others on here will confirm) really does know what he is talking about.

Afraid you are on a loser with this one Trust me, if it could be done someone on here would know

they are digital clocks and i am replacing them for a freind as the car was a writeoff so he had to buy most of the components for it and the digital clocks were 1 of tyhe items he needed to buy

basically bro my speedo or my fuel guage dnt work nor does any of the lcd so am thinikin bcuz i ant got the chip on my clocks but there is place for it i need a full dump to put back on

You need to speak to an expert who can code clusters & has the STAR system- a main dealer or try comand.co.uk

Ditto - as I understand you pruchased a cluster with the chip missing and have already tried programming a new chip (copied from another vehicle) and inserting that, but it doesn't work.

Clusters have to be coded to the vehicle and I suspect the coding is stored in that chip, so copying another will not work without then connecting the car up to STAR and doing the coding bit to correctly match it to the vehicle (it is possible that that chip only stores data and not program code, so starting with an empty chip may be required).

I doubt a main dealer will have ever come across this sort of problem and may be reticent to give it a go, if you explain the situation to the guys at command.co.uk they might be able to assist.

That's the problem. You need a doner C270CDi of similar vintage, then you may still need to make some coding adjustments.

I would have thought a dealer would have access to the relevent firmware for your car based on VIN.

Do dealers every re-program from scratch? Or do they just get the part from the factory (by VIN) and then code it on STAR?

jme4tash - Speaking from experience, the EPROM read you're looking for is a highly specialised subject which, unless EPROM reads of dash ECU's it what you specialise in, you aren't going to find easily.

I would suggest two things:

1 - Ring round a few scrappies for a similar make/model/year to your car and then going and de-soldering the necessary chip and reading it.

2 - There is a very slim chance that some guys on here may know but it is unlikely as it's not performance enhancing so not many folk will have that sort of BIN file.

keep us updated on how you get on. It may be useful for others thinking about cluster mods (I would like to put a W209 cluster into my CL203, however the advice is that it has to be new and hence expensive)

I don't understand.
We have suggested four different points of contact with those we consider to be experts. Have you tried contacting any of them?
If not then that is the best place to start!
