I can hear the rear camera retracting everytime I come to a stop. It first happened 2 years ago and I learned that it can open and close by itself with no image on the screen, this is not a fault, but just the camera re-calibrating itself. As long as the vehicle speed is below 30km/h and the steering angle is less than 10 degrees, it will recalibrate within a minute or so which is what happened back then.

Now, the same thing is happening, but no matter how many times I've picked a quiet road or industrial estate to recalibrate it, it's just refusing to co-operate.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I'll just add that when in reverse the camera works fine and displays a perfect image on the screen, it's more of an annoyance to hear it retract everytime you come to a stop.

I would ask the dealer to do a firmware update on the camera. See if that fixes it.

Thanks, it's due a service in 4 weeks anyway, I'll see what they say.

It shouldn't happen every time. It does from time-to-time. If it is under factory warranty, then get them to update firmware in the camera and the camera-cover-control-unit. Mercedes used warranty icam be difficult with software faults ...
Also, if its under factory 3 year warranty and you have the full Satnav system get them to upgrade the firmware in the COMAND and the map - you can get the firmware updated by saying "it occasionally reboots when navigating"

It happens every time the car moves!
Warranty ran out last year so no chance of that route.

Hello. My car is at the dealership for this very issue right now. Recalibrates for 1 day and then does the same thing the next day. What did the dealer do to fix your car? Please help!

Hi, the dealer never fixed it, they did not understand exactly what the fault was and it gave it back with the fault still there, I showed them what was happening before I drove the car away and they then saw it for themselves. The only suggestion they had was to book it back in at a later date. I never got round to it and about 6 weeks later I noticed it had stopped doing it and was working correctly, so in the end it fixed itself!
