Vito sport X Brabus
I've just bought a 2012 vito sport X which has parktronic sensors front and rear. Fronts work perfectly, but the rears are completely dead. I bought from a dealer, but the previous owner has had fitted a fixed towbar, spliced in wiring, not Merc plug in. Found the rear module above the rear offside wheel arch, assume it's the parktronic module as it has four white connectors for the sensors, a black connector, for the warning lights/buzzer and a white connector with red and black wires going into it, one of which has an inline blade fuse..am I right in thinking that I should be getting 12v to that fuse when ignition is on and vehicle in park ? (Front sensors work in this situation, assume rear would too). If they have disconnected rears, has anyone any experience of where I should look ? Thanks

That doesn't sound like factory sensors, it could be one of many aftermarket sensors.

I'd expect power only when you are in reverse with an aftermarket kit (or a permanent feed and a reverse feed, plus a ground of course)

Cheers

Richard

Pretty sure they are genuine Merc, but will try to check further, was assuming they were genuine as have the proper parktronic light system front and back (on dash and in rear head liner. The fronts work in neutral or drive, so assumed rear would work the same, but even in reverse I get nothing. Clearly more investigation required

Thanks Nick

As Richard has pointed out you will have a aftermarket kit fitted, the kits I fit have a live, Earth and a tigger wire.

Ok, thanks for that. I just assumed it was factory due to the display units front and back which seemed to fit the description in the owners manual. Will have to dig deeper and see if I can figure out why the rears not working, still think it might be due to installation of the towbar. Will take pic of what I think is control unit and maybe someone can identify it ?

At least now I can pull the system apart without worrying I'm buggering up expensive oe equipment and possibly affecting the front system, they're clearly totally separate, which is a relief.

Ok, have now managed to remove unit, and have identified make "steel mate". Thanks for all the help, will now try to find out why I'm not getting power to them

Wire coming from reversing light broken, rewired, and now all works. Thanks for the useful info
