Hey all,

I have booked in tomorrow with the local Merc dealer to have my rear subframe inspected which I am pretty sure has already snapped, I explained to them on the phone I have children and the safety implications etc just wondered if there is anything else I need to mention to ensure the FOC replacement

It is not a guaranteed free replacement. Different dealers seem to take a different approach.

I am also unsure if your having children will sway them. If it's unsafe it's unsafe

Good luck and let us know how you get on 👍

As above. Also, in the event that they do agree a free replacement, be prepared for your car to be off the road for the duration, I.e. from now till the dealer gets approval from MB, sources the part, and affects the repair.

Just an update on this so went in yesterday they inspected it and I dealt with a fellow named Jak at Blackburn, they were very nice to be honest and have agreed to do the repair as a GOGW and FOC. I asked him if I would have to pay for anything as I saw some people had to pay for some nuts/bolts etc but he assured me it would be completely free. He has also managed to sort me with a car for the duration mine is off the road so all in all a good outcome

Result!

I collected my car from Peterborough Mercedes this morning with its shiny new and free subframe. Shoutout to my local dealership who lent me a brand new C300e while my old bus was off the road. No hidden charges.

Well done Peterborough Mercedes. Why is there such a difference in customer service regarding this subframe issue. It is obviously a design, manufacturing fault by Mercedes which they certainly know about.
What with this issue and the Fire Opal Red paint work issues on some vehicles.
Do Mercedes really care about its customers safety regarding the subframe failures.
Premium car brand, my bum!

Can we agree that Mercedes-Benz customer service is actually pretty good these days?
Shouldn't that comment be in the jokes thread?? 🤔

MB UK? Or the Peterborough dealership (owned by Group 1)?
Depends on how you want to define it, but in this example both would have been involved - good service from the point of contact at the dealer and MB UK (or AG or whatever) - the experience seems positive to me.
