Hi all

Just picked up a nice little A class , but the rear view mirror is missing.

Have sourced one , but the mirror clips into a little clip that sticks to the windscreen with adhesive padded tape / sponge.

Now , the replacement doesn't have any of this , and i imagine that the mirror torques the clip quite a lot so it will need to be strong , as there is no support from the roof as it doesn't have a roof mounting.

Any ideas where to get this stuff ( its like rubbery film about 2 mm thick , but so sticky , i've never seen anything like it ! )

Thanks in advance

H

^ Halford sell it in a little pack of two.

I knocked one off my wifes feista years ago (girlfriend then..) not much room you get the idea :)

The pads are VERY STICKY don't get it wrong :)

Hi Howard,

I'm sure I've seen little kits for this in local Motor factors/Halfords type places. Failing that, hail down an Autoglass type van or ask a local bodyshop, they must use this stuff day in, day out :)

Thanks everyone :)

I'll pop down to Halfords or Andys , they should have some.

That'd be great Greg , and save me a journey .... gonna spend saturday minting the little A class , so less time sourcing stuff , the better.

You have PM

Congratulations on the new car. Can I be nosey and ask what prompted the A-class purchase? With 2 V8 in your house you didn't strike me as a diesel person. :)

It's not a diseasal .... ;)

Angela fancied a change , so we changed the Ka for a A190 ( w168 ) ...

Its her favourite colour ( purple ) , manual ( so no disasters with the semi auto or auto boxes when they go wrong ) , leather interior , aircon , etc ...

Year 2000 on a W , 85k miles.

She loves it. :D

those pads hardly ever work that well... the glass will need to be UBER clean...

If not there is a product made by loctite that works well... its like a gelly type super glue.

I'll try the pads ( Greg is sending some over ) , failing that i'll get some of the loctite stuff. I was going to clean the glass with acetone.

Can you remember the exact name by any chance Jay ?

I'm not sure why I thought it was a diseasal...reading words that aren't there :dk:

In the past when I've been after similar cars I've noticed how they're always very good value.

A Ka to an A-class must be a nice step up :)

We PX'ed the Ka , as it was starting to get little things go wrong with it.

Rear wiper packed up , speedo worked intermittantly ( probably due to me taking it out and not being able to get it to work properly again if i'm honest ) , bit of rust on the sills , just silly bits but bits that would have started to cost money soon.

There's a few little bits need doing on the A ( mirror for example ) , but overall it's a nice car.

Once i've minted it up , i'll post some piccys.
