Car
to No.1 brand in reliability
I might need to remove the RVM to finally get at the cabin temperature sensor to clean it out. THing is for a long while I have noticed the RVM has slight annoying vibrations when the car is on the road. Will removing the RVM make it worse? If I do remove it, anyone had this vibrating problem enough to have fixed it - how? Any suggestions to make it more solid? What is likely the cause of vibration? Mirror or base?

Hi,

I had a sort of noise/vibration coming in the front ceiling area: one was the passenger visor, I found trying to rotate it a bit!

Other noise was the little el-fan inside the dome light (that one connected to the climate control), I solved with a drop (very few!!)of oil.

Hope this help.

To remove the dome light it's quite easy, pull down the mirror base (it's hard) and then remove the dome light itself (open the 2 external plastic cover you'll see 2 metal clips, with a flat screwdriver you'll be able to remove down).

Hope to help you.

If your noise is really the mirror I'd suggest to check if there are something loosen in the mirror itself!

PS: Oh yes I've another noise/vibration, from the blower motor in the pax foot area, but it's not your problem

How can I check the mirror itself or to remove it to check?
Btw I can't see the two metal clips I seem to have two tiny claws gripping the dome. I'll try to get a pic, I might have to push these claws up.

to remove the mirror you need to pull hard the base (that metal piece that is connected to the dome light).

to remove the domelight, yes those claws are the be levered/pushed, it's not difficoult only a matter of try.

sorry my really bad english explanation

Thanks pluggers, of these and the lit vanity mirror threads that started me wanting to cure the vibrations in the RVM. Its vibrations though, no audible sound or anything like that just vibrating so images look blurry - of course if the road is smooth no vibrations at all. Just think the current vibrations is not acceptable. Will give the base a good twist to dislodge those two ends from the rect metal socket in the roof.
