Get another Mrs. :bannana:

(Bet you were expecting someone to reply with that. Well, I'm perdictable if nothing else. :D )

Can you buy a good seat from a breakers/ebay and swap the internals?

I suspect the only cheap option will be to live with it.....

You can buy a new seat pad from your dealer, then strip the cover off and install it. Alternatively take the seat into a local auto upholsterers and let them do it.

Ive seen the seat pad which is available and at low cost but after having a quick shufty it doesnt look like a diy job - or is it simpler than it looks ?

The Mrs in question isnt mine  .... however I know she was into her pies cos the drivers seat has a very annoying bit of play in the adjust on acceleration and braking - only a few mm but it is annoying me already

Once the seat squab is off you should be able to attend to the slop in the seat. Of course, it might well be that the squab itself is moving slightly on the frame.

Dieselman's suggestion is definitely the best course of action going forward. The new foam is reasonably priced, the squab is easy to remove, and then is simply a case of a bit of DIY upholstery, or having someone to do it for you.

Try getting a seat from a LHD model. The passenger seat (Our drivers seat) have not had the mileage! Germany, France, Spain is usually a good bet. Have a good Look around Ebay.

Just drop it into a decent upholsterers with the seat pad.

I had the complete drivers side panel replaced on mine (scuffed on entry/exit) with a perfect leather match for just £75 - and then included them removing and refitting the seat and supplying the leather!

The seats are actually very easy to remove and you may be pleasently surprised at the cost :)

Who did this for you?

http://hrsautotrim.com Speak to Dean

he also retrims my CRX seats for me as the drivers side bolsters wear the in the same place but much more readily
The same guy also replaced the plastic windows in the soft top for the princely sum of £350 a couple of years ago, considering the roof needs to be removed for this job I thought it was a good price :)

Ive just replaced the pad on my driver's seat myself. Bought it for £70 from MB.

It is a two man operation to remove the leather cover from the frame, as you need to compress the cushion down in order to release it from the channel that secures it to the base.

When you get the thing apart, its actually quite shocking as to the lack of padding between your backside and the springs !!!

If I had given this job to an upholsterer, I would have definitely told them to add additional padding to make the seat more comfortable.

Getting the cover back on was again a two man operation and really hard work !!!
