Recaro files for bankruptcy

Alas... another one bites the dust :(

Remember Irmscher? They still exist, but their name and logo haven't brought an adrenaline rush or raised my pulse in decades. This sort of thing, however, did - at the time:

I used to pass Irmscher UK and their showroom regularly as a boy and it’s one of the reasons I love cars now.

Used to have a Senator with a few irmscher bit and bobs on it.
Was a member of the
Autobahnstormers, for 6 cylinder, Monzas, Senators, Carltons and finally Omegas. Well before the internet. It was monthly mags back then. Wonder if they are still going. 🤔🙂

I was a member in around 2001-3 when we had an Omega. The 6-cylinder Vauxhall-Opels were truly great cars.

Steve Thompson Cars.....unfortunately the nearest I ever got to them was the Irmscher mail order brochure.
SpikeyMikeysan an expert in tuned Vauhalls you are.

Years later I had my Vauxhalls serviced by Steve Thompson Cars, and bought a car from them too. Walking around their Vauxhall main dealership workshop often revealed some treats, e en in the mid-90s after their Irmscher showroom had closed down. Broken Lotus Carltons a plenty.

I do like tuner cars and would really love to add some tuned in-period Vauxhalls to the Dazzler Collection, especially an Irmscher, Blydenstein and Courtenay. Beggars can’t be choosers though so the chances of getting the exact model I’d want would be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Blydenstein tuned Firenza Droopsnoot, Chevette HS and Nova 1.3 SR; a Courtenay Turbo Astra 2.0 16v, Calibra 2.0 Turvo 4x4, and Nova 1.6 GSi; and a Irmscher Manta i400, Nova Sport and Senator 4.0 24v would all be wonderful. If I could choose just one then it would probably my be the Senator.

Agreed. Back in the early 1990's I had a straight-six Carlton which was a wonderful car.

Always wanted a "chip cutter" 24v Senator, but never quite managed it before divorce costs scuppered my automotive fun for a few years by which time everything had moved on.

And, I have posted this before...:

A bit late to the post but what a shame this is, I remember them from all the fast fords when I was a kid.

I’ve been lucky enough to have owned eleven different cars, with recaro seats in them, over the years, all pretty different, but always supportive and comfortable, so let’s hope someone saves them.
