recommend somewhere to re-chrome exhaust tips

My exhaust tips on my SL appear to be painted and are in a bit of a sorry state.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get them re-chromed, and preferably West London area but nationwide is fine if they do a postal service.

I phoned a couple of places I found online but neither seemed interested I doing it... So much for the recession.

There's a place in Brentford behind the high street (Isleworth plating?) - well they were there when I used them some years back now.

Other than that, PM Peter (C43 AMG) as I know he had his exhaust tips re-chromed by somewhere that did an excellent job

Normally they can be cleaned up? The bodyshop we use just cleans them up with wire wool followed by polish.

I will probably be trying that but I suspect it would be easier to rechrome as it is pretty grim.

I'm not sure but I think the tips are some grade of Stainless Steel - anyone able to confirm?

Thats a shame, its just around the corner from Martins workshop where I am often found lurking.

The tips on my SL55 were stainless but so polished I thought they were chrome.

Any decent hardware shop will have "0000" grade wire wool (used for applying furniture polish on wood, so not at all rough) - that dipped in soapy water brought up the tips on mine like new
