My birthday is coming up and I'd like to do a driving day in a single seater.
So far all I've found on the web are "days" where you get about 4 or 5 laps in the car, for about £250. Doesn't seem like good value to me....
Can anyone suggest from personal experience???

Bedford Autodrome does the best driving experiences bar none. Not cheap, but then the instructors positivly encourage you to let the car off the lead.
www.palmersport.com.
Ask anyone who has been there!

My stepson was well pleased with the one we got him on his birthday.

3 Laps Mazda 3 .......................(Instructor drives)
3 Laps Porche Cayman...............(You drive)
4 Laps Ferrari 355.....................(You drive)
5 Laps Formula Renault..............(You drive)
1 Lap Mazda RX-8.....................(Instructor drives)

It was at Thruxton and cost £245
Can be found here
Thruxton Racing

thanks guys - thruxton looks good....

Bedford is a circuit not an airfield.

Gold MSV vouchers (normally oulton \ brands days) also include the choice of 911+clio cup sessions at bedford, with printouts of laptimes etc. I think these are currently £190.

(the cheapest way to get to use the cars \ bedford, as corporate days are over £600 a head)

Bedford is brilliant - 3 circuits IIRC which can be linked to provide 1 long track. Excellent run-offs (Goodwood is scary in comparison in this respect). I took my dearly departed Boxster there and had a whale of a time. I went on an Autocar track day - food included - and you had unlimited time from 2.00 pm to 7.00 pm.

One word of advice if you are taking your own car. Go with a full tank. You can (and will) refuel, but it ain't exactly cheap!
