Dear all,
Would be very grateful if some one can help to have quickly a reliable repair/service Merc garage in the Bromley area (different than Bromley Merc dealer). Best

Thanks alot, any comment about this garage? Do they offer the possibility to come to my place ?
I have an 2003 C class 240, it just died yesterday it had a quick crank but it would not start and no thing happened. We had to wait for well more than an hour to be able to start again (when the car is cold? as it had already happened like that a couple of times last week) then we also had :Alternator/Battery Visit Workshop! warning came on. All the electronics continue to work. Once the temp cools, the engine starts again. I would imagine the battery and alternator are fine because everything seems still works until then. But Today even in the cold the car is cannot restart again.
Many thanks

It is almost certainly the crankshaft postion sensor, a car not starting when hot but starting when cooled down are classic symptoms of this but the sensor can fail completely.

Do you have breakdown cover? If so ask them to arrange to tow your car to the garage If not then just call the garage and ask for advice, they may well recover your car back for a small fee, it just takes a telephone call.:thumb:

I use Wright Tech in Sidcup - not far from Bromley and maybe able to orchestrate a tow if you don't have breakdown cover...

Dear DSM10000, thanks for your reply.. I do have a breakdown cover. I know it just take a phone call to a garage but I will have to find a very good one and value for money one around Bromley area before towing the car to them.
As I also do have a SRS airbage warning light a few weeks ago and that can be expensive compared to value of the car... Many Thanks again...Cheers

Thanks JohnEBoy for your suggestion, any more comments about this garagae would be helpful as I have had some bad experiences with others before! Thanks again. Best

Dear all, just to give some updates
Just tried to start again yesterday evening.. I could hear some light spanking when turning the ignition for the 1st time but abs nothing if trying to restart again after that. it could not start even in cold any more. I don't think this is a battery problem as all the electronic seems ok and music is still on.
Is it a startor moror pb? or Alternator ?
Many thanks again

I also use Wrighttech, Andy is a fine fellow and always willing to help.

I think you need to get it looked at.

There is a limit to what an online forum can achieve alone...!
