Remapping

Thanks guys for all your comments. I am still not sure what to do. May well let it go a stick with the standard power.

IMHO - I would stick with what you have. Don't open yourself up to problems!

Case in example: My father in laws Volvo V70 2.4 - 318k on the clock and still going strong (I am driving it today as it need a new tyre fitting). Always been serviced by Volvo - never been screwed with.

Point being: if the car has always been reliable and reasonable to maintain, don't open yourself up to expense and heartache.

I would save your money and put the money into a new car later on - have some extras or have a power upgrade done on a lower mileage engine and gearbox.

Additionally; are you feeling that the car is a bit slow and unresponsive? i.e. is there an unknown problem that a power increase may hide?

Why not try a high end tuning box? then if you are not happy you can always sell it on (dead easy) and recover most of your money so very little risk.

A high end box will give you exactly the same benefits as a remap but is easily removeable and the car back to standard in a matter of minutes.

If you do like it you can still sell the box on and go for the remap, alternatively there maybe someone willing to lend you one to try :dk:

Just a thought :dk:

More food for thought!

The only reason I was considering the remap was because of the statement made by the company.

Quote: 'The process of remapping or tuning a diesel or turbo diesel car offers great benefits. Traditionally tuning an engine offered great performance gains, but in the case of Diesel engines remapping can offer power and torque gains as well as increased fuel economy. Many customers report that their car drives much more smoothly, is more responsive and needs fewer visits to the pumps after tuning.'

I had a piggyback tuning box put onto my Mk1 Lexus GS300 Sport and to be honest I was a little disappointed. I think I will stay with the Standard. The car runs well and has full service history. It may well fetch a better price if it is not played with. Thanks again guys.
