Hi all,

With my previous car (BMW 320) I was able to close the windows with the keyfob. I can't seem to do that with my C250. Is it even possible?

I have a habit of leaving the roof open (panoramic). Should the rainsensor close it when it starts to rain?

Thanks,
Adam

Hold the close button on...and it will happen. I had a 320 years ago and one touch closed everything...but that is considered unsafe now. It would also be unsafe if a rain sensor could close the roof...imagine if a child was standing on a seat with head out through the roof...

Had our E class 7 yrs and my dad never knew it did this.

You have to be (at least on my car) next to the drivers door and press lock, and then keep you finger on it.... and roof / windows close.

Same in reverse if a really hot day and you get back to car. press unlock and keep your finger pressed and windows and roof open :)

As above, try holding the lock button on the key and it should close all the windows & the sunroof.

However, if it's anything like our W203 or a W221 I tried, it may only work from the drivers side via the IR sensor. If the W204 has an IR sensor on the driver door try holding the lock button down whilst pointing towards the sensor. On our BMW it works via RF so it can be done from anywhere around the car.

It may be a safety feature (in Mercedes view) that this function is only available via IR.

^ Funny enough I had a BMW with a softtop roof and asked could this be programed to close / open on the fob..

Yes it can but they didn't recommend this as if your kids got your keys and by accident pressed it... last thing at night your car is on the drive roof down...and your off to bed just as the shower open.

you can do the same by holding the keyless go button on the door handle in

^ nothing fancy

I've heared most of the cars in Liverpool do.

You just open and start then with a screwdriver :) :)

Thanks guys - just tried it now - yes infra-red sensor on door and sender in fob have to be line of sight. The RF aspect doesn't work - unlike the BMW set up. I now have to deploy a series of mirrors around the drive so I don't have to go outside to the car to close the roof!

Remote open?close windows

Hi,

I'm a new member, but been reading posts for ages.

I saw on the forum that you should be able to open and close all the windows from outside using the key fob! Well I tried it on my 2005 W203 C180K and it didn't work!! Read the handbook which says it does, kept trying - no luck. Coincidentally been having problems with an optical audio out on the TV which started me thinking, anyway got out some mild abrasive polish and cleaned the IR transmitter on the key fob - tried again to open windows and it worked!!! Closed them as well. I thought I would share this just in case anyone is still having problems give it a try.

Regards to all members

Hi, everyone. Been reading all your post on here for a while. Thought about time I join in.

Regarding closing the windows. Before ignition off hold air circulation button down before removing the key and all windows + sunroof will close. I use it when following smelly vehicles, when they've gone hold the button again and windows +sunroof return to previous positions.

I find if I park the merc with drivers door facing front window. I can close and open from 22 feet.

Hope it helps.

Martyn

The above is known as 'comfort locking' , introduced on the W124 , just hold the key in the lock/unlock position for 5 seconds for windows and roof to close/open .
