Doh! I bought a remote for my comand number A164 820 4189 (MB Price £97 lol) thinking it would work on my w203 but it doesn't:( It works on R Classes and GL but I don't know if it works on any other models. Does anyone know what other models it is compatible on? If any one is interested in a comand remote then let me know:rolleyes:

According to my EPC the part no is only for 164 and 251 model cars.
These must be the only cars fitted with the right comand system for remote.

Cheers Gareth. So it will work on 164 M Class and 251 R Classes- what about the rumour that it would also work on a GL? Many thanks.

Yes it will work on the new GL(also starts 164) although ive just found the car needs to have code 864 on the datacard, rear entertainment(2screens) as a factory option.

What about these? The ML/GL one may be for the rear entertainment only but I do remember some W220 owners having the remote without the car having rear entertainment. Actually I think it came standard on an S600 W220.

Edited: this example part number A2208202889 has been used on 208, 210, 220, 215 and 163. I doubt all even had rear entertainment as an option from the factory. Still not for W203, perhaps another part?

The w220 one is part no A0028208289 and came with the following models (according to EPC) 220,129,210,170,202 and 208 they all had option of a special radio that uses remote. Mostly an audio 30

I saw three different remote control devices for the W220, at the Comand parts section. Why would an Audio 30 have a remote control button for TV?

the original command remote will work on a command 2.0 without any rear screens etc.

The same remote also has a button for tape, which none of the comand units have AFAIK.

I don't know if any old Comand device even had a tape drive but my point was for the Audio 30 comment, I understood the comment claiming that the remote was only for Audio 30. I did not mean Audio 30 would not have any remote option. Wasn't the intention of this thread anyway to find a remote control device for Comand, preferably the W203 Comand?

Edited: reading your comment on the Audio 30 post, perhaps you were trying to state the same. But the A2208202889 remote control device appears to be different from the three for Comand on a W220. Discussion gets easily confusing if we talk about different specific parts.

Ahh!! The answer for me is here http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=42725&highlight=comand+remote

Racall got the w220 one for his w203!

Diesel Benz- you have got a spare W220 one have you??:)

OK, great if the W220 part works on a W203. Odd that EPC did not list any for a W203, perhaps never been part of any W203 factory option.

You can have my picture of the W220 remote controller, I have a few of those. :D Unfortunately I don't have a real part, would have been yours for free.

I tried your photo and it got nearer to working than my R Class one!! Cheers anyway!

Right. I've sold the R Class one-now I just need to find the S Class one!
