Hi my key fobs seem to have no range at all, I have been told it may be the RF unit or aerial, any ideas?

my w124 remote only works from the boot the door one does not work

any ideas, is their an easy fix not too costly, also u have to be really next to the car to do it?? help pls

Hi 2002 C220CDI, just found out IR only works 100% at night, during day IR only works about 1 in 10 tries.

The most common faults with W203 remotes with poor range are ,
1- If the fuse in the rear sam (fuse box in the boot) is blown. This is usually cause by an alarm siren fault and poor radio reception is also experienced. Poss fuse 8 ,7.5 amp if I remember right.
2- The radio amplifier and be unstuck from the rear screen. Again the radio reception will also be poor.
3- The RF part of the key may be faulty.(or the remote batterys could be low)

Hope this helps .

I believe the above advice covers your case but it actually did not talk about IR issues and you say IR only works 1 out of ten attempts. At night the performance can be better because of less IR interference but are you using the key properly for IR connectivity? You should point the door handle IR receiver with the key, preferably directly instead of doing it from an angle.

The w203 has RF locking for locking at a distance and IR locking for the shutting the windows with the key. If the range is poor then try pointing the key at the door handle. If this works then its possible that the RF signal is faulty. Is it with both keys? If this is the case see my post above.

i have same problem with my 202 but dont have a number 8 fuse in the boot !!

any idea what fuse it is on a 202 ??
