Hi

I need to change a couple of bulbs in the instrument cluster. From an earlier post I have learnt how to remove the actual cluster by pushing it out from behind, however i can find out how you remove the lower part of the dashboard to get to the back of the cluster.

Regards

Tan

EDIT: I should have mentioned that the car is a W140 S-Class

Not sure about the 129, but there are some screws under the dash on the 202. Panel then drops down.

Cheers Sym,

It is the same on the 129, however I forgot to mention that i needed the info for a W140 S-class.

Have edited the above now.

Thanks again

If North London isn't too far from you, if you want to pop over i'll pull it out for you mate.
I just normally use the tools.
I'll have a look in my W140 and let you know how to pull the panel out.

Hi

Thanks for the offer, the only thing is that I wanted to do the job this morning as I am taking the car on a long run today and also I need to wire in a GPS aerial so would be useful to remove the panel.

If I have no luck I will be in touch.

Thanks again

Ok, there are 2 screws located where the carpet meets the dash. One is directly below the ignition barrel and the other one is located on the other side of the steering wheel. They are hard to see as they are hiding slightly under the dash overlap. I could only find 2 but when you take it off just gently feel to make sure there isn't a hidden one (normally located behind handbarke release handle.
The look in the foot well and you 'll see the plastic panel which meets the carpet there are 2/3 screws or nuts there which you will have to undo. Panel should then pop off.

i managed to "crowbar" mine out from the front bottom with a small flat bladed screwdriver, being very careful not to damage the plastic trim, i wrapped the screwdriver in tissue paper - and volia!
