I have changed the tailgate lock on my E class (S211). When reinstalling it there are two cables for interior and exterior handles (red and yellow) which need to be reattached. I have got the red one attached ( Fiddly) but in order to attach the yellow one I need to remove the exterior and interior handles. There are two torx screws either side of the exterior handle (picture below)but they don't seem to release the handle.
I think they release the silver plastic trim across the tailgate and that there are further screws underneath which release the handle.
Only the silver trim doesn't come loose when the torx screws are removed. Is it held in by clips and needs to be levered off? I'm worried about breaking it. Anyone done this?
