Replacement keys: huge price increase

Just seems strange that you have a key that is patently brand new but doesn't work the car . There must be a way to get it going surely.

I doubt the dealer would have bought an Ebay key to give with the car , what if you had wanted to try it before you bought it ?

You're right. Should have tried before leaving the garage. Why not just go back to the dealer??

Edit. Sorry Peter it doesn't seem you bought it from a dealer. A private sale? Guy hoodwinked you.

Thats why i would like to 'decode' the part number. The key comes in an original MB parts bag so that makes it all the more strange.

Yes, but there are many such keys on Ebay. Many claim to be new with uncut metal bits. Can't be too hard to get a parts bag. Think about it this way. The dealers have spare unprogrammed keys to program for you should you want a new one.

Just took my key apart and two MASSIVE balls of fluff fell out .... :o

Oh yeah , there was one of those too :o;)
