replacement w203 steering wheel controls !! help !

i have a 2003 c220cdi coupe and the telephone control buttons only work if you press the buttons really hard ! also because the plus & minus buttons also change settings on the computer i need to rectify this.
i have had it put on the star diagnostic machine and there were no faults apart from that cluster of controls !!!
so the garage quoted me £367 fitted for a replacement cluster of controls

i can get a working part from e bay for £25 and was wondering if anyone knows how to get the steering wheel off so i can get to the part to replace it ???
i would imagine it just plugs into a block so cant imagine it been too technical.
any help would be appreciated

Maybe not for your car but worth a try!!

REMEMBER YOU ARE DEALING WITH AN AIRBAG!!

Behind the wheel you should have (four) allen or torx screws that hold the airbag on. You may have to turn you wheel to get at them. Undo those and off comes the air bag. The rest should be simple.

I have just bought a set of buttons for the CL from MB for £ 98.00 I haven't had it fitted yet, i can't see it costing over £200 to fit it.

Yes it is plug and play.

update, i'm buying a full steering wheel instead from e bay !
i'll leave my wheel on and just just change the centre bit with the air bag !!
should take me about 20 mins
will let you know how i go on
