Can anyone tell me if replacing a door speaker in a W208 convertible is a comparatively easy task...or one best left to the experts....? I've put up with a constant crackling from the smaller of the two drivers door speakers since I bought the car and it's finally got to me.

I read in a related thread that there was a possibility of setting off a side airbag - which I'd rather avoid.....(!)

Thanks in advance.

Dead easy ... no worries with airbags at all ...

Are you replacing with standard MB ones or going for an upgrade ?

If you are upgrading , make sure the speakers aren't going to be too deep for the baskets ....

Hi Mate,
I did exactly that in my old W208 but also had other bits added too (i.e. 7" dvd player, subwoofer, amp etc.) and it sounded amazing. I used MB Quart Reference Speakers as they are one of the best sounding you can get specially the tweeter is so crisp and clear that I always use them in my cars includng my old Porsche 911, BMW X5, Nissan 350Z and now just about to buy another set for my W209. Highly recommended.

can any of you guys tell me how easy it is to get to the rear speaker in between the two passenger seats on the w208 convertible? i wanted to connect an rca to it.

thanks

Do you mean the speaker between the two rear seats ?

That is a subwoofer ...

The cabrio only has speakers in the doors and a sub

Coupes have speakers in doors and rear shelf .
