All, been over on the BMW side with a Z4 for 18 months but going to be a dad in Feb so i need more seats.

Looked at a B180 Sport last week and very taken by it, seems to be exactly the kind of thing i need, quality looks good and there are some good finance deals on at the MB dealers just now so it could end up being a real bargain.

On first glance it seems expensive compared to a Focus CMax or Golf Plus but once you add in all the options on those to match the standard spec of the B180 there’s maybe 1K in it, projected residuals are much better to.

So, obvious question is does anyone have any experience of the new B class facelift model, specifically things that were criticised in the first version like noise, steering and the sports suspension.

Well, I can't really tell you much about the facelift ride quality as we have the pre-facelift B class.

I would highly recommend one for a family- link to thread on ours below in my signature(this thread is a year old, but content still applies).

afaik, the main changes with the facelift were in the areas of styling(bumper changes, improved tailgate release, sports grille-3 slat- as standard, smoked rear lights as standard), engine efficiency changes & more powerful petrols dropped, plus some other features such as fixed panoramic roof as standard, upgraded stereo/satnav options, parking assist. I am not aware of whether the suspension/ride was altered at all & think the ride will be comparable.
Many will put you off the sports suspension. We have the sports suspension along with 18' standard AMG alloys. I would recommend that you try it first before deciding against it, especially if you are used to a Z4.
Apart from the cars you have mentioned, I would also include the VW Touran in your shortlist, which is fairly smart. We weren't too impressed with finish of the Honda FR-V

Good luck

It is dearer than a Golf or a Focus but it has masses more room. the legroom front and rear is about the same as an S class and the boot at over 500 litres is about the same as an S class too. The Golf has a bit over 325 litres.

The facelift has some nice touches including bluetooth and so on but not very different. I do not like the ride of the Sport model. It is a bit Audi -ish. Good on perfect roads but not on the UK's rough stull unless you happen to like it very firm. But in any case there is nothing sporty about it in the sense that the performance is identical to the other models.

I had a B200cdi with the auto box and was very happy with it. I preferred the diesels to the petrols -but I haven't driven the latest petrols.
