Does it matter which oil brand

Just to mention, I had a C class W205.
No dipstick, no hole, no suction pump option.
Going backwards on that engine design.

Can you not put a suction pipe through the oil filter housing ?

Best bit of advice on the thread....MB Apprproval? YES!. Meets MB Specifications = NO. MB BEVO List is your friend when deciding which oil (or other fluid)is the right oil for your car,
and another small bit of advice to those using or about to use the suction method,,If the dipstick is at the front of the engine, have the car parked facing down hill, If its at the rear of the engine, face the car uphill, that way gravity will help to drain the maximum amount of oil out.

I wouldn't think so, IIRC, the oil pick up tube usually has a mesh cover on the end.
Sump - Pick up pipe - Oil filter - Then around the engine.
The tube wouldn't be able to go down far enough.
The W205 engine is so complex and complicated, there was no space to build in, a direct route to the sump, for a dip stick.
Hence the dashboard oil level and the sump plug.

I agree

Welcome to the forum!

Oil changes at more than 6000 miles (in line with manufacturers recommended intervals) do not shorten engine life.

I have run cars to 224,000 and 182,000 miles (Audi petrol and Mercedes diesel) with the oil changed in my and previous ownership at the recommend intervals with no issues.

Both cars had quiet and smooth running engines with very low oil consumption when sold.
Well done everyone for not taking the short oil change/long engine life bait!

Same goes for sump nut method.....
Changed the oil and filter on the wife's Skoda Superb last week after a rash of oil/filter changes on VW Passat's, so basically all the same. Anyway, I always raise the front end on wooden blocks (homemade arrangement, which guarantee safety while giving comfortable height to work under) So the front is the highest point, which is the ideal position for the sump stud. While It drains, I remove the oil filter, fit the new filter and seals, by which time the draining oil has reduced to a slow drop. Put it all back together, and that's it for another 10'000 Klms.

£14.99 on Black Friday deal.
Gazwould, a frequent poster on this site, and expert on oils and the differences between different types /brand's etc. and whose opinion I value, rates VW 507 as being superior to the Mercedes E class w213 2.0 diesel engine oil. 229.52. .

It's all about boundary lubrication , everything else is secondary .

If you have a like 5W30 C3 spec oil and similar price that is better because it had to have better anti wear properties because it was preventing VAG PD narrow camshaft lobe wear due to the Pumpe Düse unit injector lobes taking up space on the camshaft.

Got some Mannol 7715 LongLife 504 507 in transit now .

I remember pre-Brexit, getting 20 Ltrs of MB oil. with filters from Mercedes Benz of Newcastle. for a damn sight less than I paid for 10 ltrs here in Ireland.

Picked up 20L of Mannol yesterday for £39 on Amazon
