Road blocks to catch smokers

Smoking a cigerate while driving is not dangerous. With a phone you have to look down at it to see what your dialing numbers and what not, with a fag you can just feel the box and pull a fag out without having to look at it, also why Is it that on police programmes and car programmes are they allowed to talk and look at the cameras mounted in the car whilst driving, and the police driving whilst talking in to there radios while on persuit! Why is that ok? The rules in this country are stupid...

I use to drive lorrys and the trucks are limited to 56mph but coaches are who carry 100s of PASSENGERS are allowed to go 70mph? What's that about? And tow truck drivers who tow massive artics lorrys on the back don't have to use a tacho so therefore they don't have to take breaks by law but yet they are allowed to drive something as big as that towing and be completely knackered!

Coaches are restricted to 62mph unless over a certain age

I think up to 2005 then they changed, the majority is 70mph, and even 62mph its still a stupid rule considering they are carrying passengers

Vosa never pull up coaches ot the big tow trucks, its always normal lorry drivers that get pulled! Its stupid!

Not that I have a cynical outlook like.

But you forget that a truck could damage property which is the first priority of the lawmakers. While people on coaches are not property. If we were to bring back slavery the law would probably prioritise their safety.

Turning the heaters on or changing the radio station is no different, don't tell me they are going to ban that aswell!

Hundreds????????????? Are you sure????????? A little over exagerated there possibly:)

Yes have you not seen the massive double decker ones, most I've seen have been from other countrys but still!

Well that may be your opinion but that is a standard speed limit for coaches across most of the EU as I understand it (100KM/h).

Forgive me if I have misunderstood your post but you seem to be arguing that a coach or bus should have the same restriction as an LGV because it is carrying passengers. I can't say I follow this logic because all vehicles carry passengers, its surely more to do with the vehicles size. Given that an LGV can be up to 40 tonnes it would cause far greater damage in the event of an accident

My point is that if a coach crashes then there is more chance of a lot of deaths so why are they allowed to go quicker!

What puzzles me about things like this is what, exactly, is the thought process that goes through the head of the (presumably) senior Police Officer who authorises these sort of purges?

When resources are under pressure and the very same senior officers who make these decisions are telling people who have had their house burgled or car nicked that they "don't have the resources to follow up every crime", why on earth do they think that the public will react with anything other than contempt and derision to a campaign to enforce non-smoking in company vehicles? All this does is reinforce the view that policing in the UK is more about box-ticking and easy convictions than about making good value judgements and serving the community.

If you want to feel really disheartened, try reading the Inspector Gadget Police Inspector Blog for more examples of the lunacy that guides our Police Services.

A big double decker coach and believe there are monster ones out there will have a lot more deaths than a 40tonne lorry in an accident!

And back on topic.

If anyone here wants to see the scars I got while smoking and driving I will show them.
Smoking in a moving vehicle is dangerous and distracting.

I have stopped smoking (again) thank goodness.

Yeah the big boy coaches do hold a lot more than buses..I think even a standard size coach holds more than that bus..

What...more than 300 people??

Scars?? What you been doing, putting the fags out on your arm?

A standard coach (49 passengers) holds more than the worlds largest bus (300 passengers). What are you on about?

Ok well it doesn't really matter who holds the most does it really, but I thought it was 96 passengers on a standard coach! 50, 100 , 300 passengers it still shouldn't be different rules cause the size of the vehicles are no different between coaches and lorrys!

Come on people, give us a break.
