Roof and Bike racks for W220 S-class

Hi,

We are planning a holiday and would like to take some bikes along - however I cannot locate *any* bike roof racks for W220 S-classes (short wheelbase). I called the dealer - they don't have any, nor can provide any time estimates for when they could get some.

I have a Thule set for our Volvo including the Pro bike kit, but that car is going soon, so I would like to use as much of this as possible on the MB. However Thule themselves don't seem to have anything that works on the S-class.

Does anyone have any ideas where I might find something suitable?

OK - how about towbars for S-class with AMG bodykit? Is this possible?

I have a set of OEM roof bars for a W220 S-Class - we used them for a couple of trips through Europe. I'm open to sensible offers - just drop me an PM.

Folding bikes in the boot are another option. Brompton fit fine.

Or phone, or e-mail MB Customer Service for details of the bike rack. They will tell you how to get. So could any helpful dealer!

good idea - but we already have Mountain bikes for us and the kids that need to come along - car will be pretty full with all the stuff!

I checked with a few dealers - roof bars can be obtained, however there are none in the country and they are on back order. Dealer said they couldn't commit to any delivery timescales....I might need to try some dealers in Germany if I can't get them here...

We did have a brief discussion last night via PM. I will certainly be cheaper than a MB dealer for new ones...I also had to wait for them to come in when I ordered mine. By the way, in theory the roof bars only fit SWB W220 according to the parts catalogue...in practice the mounting lugs are there on a LWB as well and the roof bars work perfectly
