Hi all.
This is my first post, so please forgive me if the answers I want are somewhere in the forum, but I've missed them.
I have a 2004 c180k, with 109,100 miles on the clock. It's a 271 engine & It's run great in the 2 years I've had it.
I've just replaced the Thermostat (yesterday) as the temp hardly ever got off the 40° mark & the heater was rubbish. It now gets to temp nicely & the heater works fine.
While I was changing the Thermostat I noticed that the Air Intake Pipe, the 'cloth' one running across the front of the engine bay, was split at the Intake end (left side, looking rearward). I repaired it with some tape, making sure the pipe wasn't 'crushed'.
I drove the car soon afterwards & all seemed ok. This morning however, it has been running like a dog: rough idle, general lumpy running & it cut out once. Then the Engine light came on. No faults are showing on the dash.
My questions are:-
A) Is it possible that the engine now thinks it's not getting enough air, since I repaired the pipe?
B) If so will it sort itself out & start to run normally?
C) Will the engine light stay on, or does it 'self reset'?
D) Could it be another issue?
Thanks in advance for any comments etc. Any info will be gratefully received.
