Hi everyone i'm new here.I have a 2002 C Class 270 Cdi Estate in Silver 82,000 miles with full history. The car runs cool even on a 100 mile journey it always sits around 65 degrees.I'm thinking the Thermostat could be the problem. My local motorfactors quoted £120 for a new one as it comes complete with the housing.Surely I can buy just the thermostat on it's own.The other thing I want to do is change the transmission oil and filter.Ant help would be greatly appreciated.I did do a search but couldn't find the info I was looking.

Yours wont have the t/c drain so like mine you can only get out whats in the sump and the filter, approx 3 litres ish which is less than half.

Most people drain sump, remove sump, replace filter and sump refill with same amount of oil they removed.

You will need the proper dipstick available from e bay usa for about £20, some people us a curtain rod, but proper tool is best and cheap enough.

Filter from mb £7.50.

You can do a proper job and either get the system flushed through by someone who knows what they are doing an indie etc, or just change the oil a couple of times, not a complete job but easy enough.

Oil from mb is approx £13 a litre, guy on e bay is doing 12 bottles for £60 with free p+p.

Stat https://www.rapidcarparts.co.uk/thermostats-mercedes-benz-c-35_1666.html?show=all#index/ i would bet mb can and will do a better price.
