S203 wheels

So first dumb question from a new Mercedes owner

I have an 03 w203 estate I'm looking for 17" wheels,aftermarket retailers list wheels that I like and all is fine and dandy till I list mine as the estate then they tell me they won't fit I'm not married to the idea of aftermarket in fact I'd rather stick to MB,,,,,,,,, SOOOOO why would wheels fit other c class and not estate ? are the tubs smaller ? and what options do I have ??????? I'm on a budget here

You need to stick with wheels that have come from a 203 and use the correct studs. Wheels that are suitable depends on your spec of car: for example, if you have an SE or Elegance with 16s, 17s should be OK, but not the other way around necessarily. Also be aware that Sport spec cars need 17s to clear the front callipers.

Have a look at your handbook and see what the options are and go from there.

However, if you deviate from standard spec, be aware that there could be insurance implications!

It's a c220 cdi elegance running 15" at the mo I just wanna reduce tyre wall really to try and stop it wallowing I am gonna replace shocks all round too 16's would do me as long as they'll fit I'm not after modding the hell out of it

Be aware that 203 wheels use 12mm wheel bolts but later 204 models use 14mm, which means you can fit W204 wheels to a W203 by buying adapter bolts from Alloywheelsdirect (as 12mm bolts will go through a 14mm hole!), but as I found out the hard way, you cannot fit 203 wheels to a 204!
