S211 Boot won't open !

Been on a trip today and first I get Malfunction messages that left and right rear Numberplate Lights malfunctioned and then a meessage that 3rd Brake Light failed.

Strange I think !

Next I try to open the boot and nothing ! It will not open by key, internal release or manually at the boot.

All the electrics to the bootlid appear to have failed. Does anybody have any ideas how I can fix this ?

Is this an estate (s211) or saloon (w211)? I'm confused (not for the first time) because you talk about the bootlid as opposed to the tailgate.

Search on here for broken wires at the hinge.

Very common fault.
