I'm pretty sure my S211 has electrically adjustable front hear restraints.

If so how can I get them off? (I want to fit some DVD ones).

My C43's both had leccie ones and I could never figure out how to remove them.

(I don't car if I lose the leccie adjustment - one of the less useful driver aids.....)

If you have the seat controls on each door panel, then they are definitely electric. I would have thought an E500 has electric memory seats on both sides at the front?

To get the restraints off, I think you have to wind them up to their fullest height and apply a bit of BFI to get them off their racks. You will probably have to recline the seat backs to get sufficient room to work with.

I'm sure there are thread/posts on here somewhere relating to what to do.

the s211 also has an anti whiplash protection in them easiest way to add screens is either the centre console method (as per oem) or pods on the back of the existing headrests. The new BMW`s come with bigger screens attached to the back of the seats, thats another option!

.....so swapping head rests might compromise safety (a bit)?

Yeah - I've looked at console - mounted 3rd party ones but am not keen on drilling holes (I assume they'd be screwed in)

Plus the Xtron ones I'm looking at (on separate thread) can run 2 x different DVD's or a combination of DVD's and games - handy when you've got a boy and a girl of different ages.....

That is the crash active headrests I mentioned on my post below. Richard from Comand Europe posted previously they cannot be removed.

I think in your case a centre armest dvd player or a roof mounted one will have to be used unless you get ones that are in a pod which goes on the back of the current headrest.

Or maybe these are a good alternative, headrest covers with built in dvd: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/4490.html

AHA!! Thankyou! I bet I have the whiplash ones.....bu**er.

No time to do the Chattonmill thing - I think he had to buy his from the US....

Which means the slightly untidy slip-ons or drilling holes for the central one.....which looks neat but means only one DVD at a time - cue loads of kiddie arguments.......

Are you sure? Having googled this I thinks this applies only to the facelift 211's? No?

As per the other thread if turns out my pre-facelift E500 doed NOT have active headrests but Ffej1405's E280 Facelift does.

Solved :-)

Thanks to all the posters for all your help.
