Hi Peeps, just after some adivse or guidence etc. Ive been monitering my Coolent level since i bought the car and especially after a Changed the Radiator as a precaution the old rad didnt look as if it has leaked internally.

I also changed the temp sendor/stat etc as this wasnt working correctly.

Ive had the car and been doing this since May, My concern is

1, i think i may smell antifreeze in the vents, now and again may just be the ac smell im not sure tbh as i run with the heater on auto.

2, After i changed rad ive topped up the water level as its bled, aprox so far in 3,500 mile half a litre.

3, Once and Only once 800 miles ago i thought i saw a fine mist through the vents on very 1st start up this may have just been dust tbh as ive said its only happend once,

The water loss has slowed down. And on a recent trip to brum and back aprox 350 miles she didnt use any water at all.

How far should the water level sit in the header tank? Is it just above the internal plastic part that sticks up?

Also ive noticed since ive had the car a silver residue in the header tanks lip, and on the bottom of the cap itself?? see attached pic.

Thanks for taking the time to read the above, im praying its not a Heater Matrix issue, Im not getting anymore dust, nor misting of the windscreen, Carpets are dry and water loss (if any) is minimal.

Hi buddy the water level seams ok as shown in the picture ,if you had a leaky heater matrix your carpets would be moist ,if the Car don't uses water I wouldn't worry much about it.:thumb:

HI c36 thankyou for the reply, i did put the water in so the level was slightly over the plastic bit you see in the pick, is that to much? if so it may have overflowed a little.

No wet floor either side of the gearbox tunnel inside and in 3,500 miles ive only added 1/2 a litre aprox to the tank but like ive said i may have overfilled it slightly.

Thanks for the reply ;)

you changed the radiator so is expected a little bit of air into the system to settle so that 1/2 a litre is more than normal.:)

I don't think you need to worry too much. The residue is normal.
