S211 Thermostat

Hi Guys,
The temp guage on my 211 generally reads about the 70 deg C mark. Occasionally it will go up to about 85 deg C (which I believe is where it should be?) but during most journeys it will sit at about 70.

So is this a fault with the stat or something else? I thought if you have a faulty stat it would ALWAYS read too low, not just occasionally?

That sounds like a stat issue.

New stat fitted a few weeks ago and temp now sits at 85 degC once warmed up. Also get into low 40s mpg during long journeys. Only ever got mid to late 30s on old stat.
