s320 aircon switch problem maybe??

hi guys,
I have just got an S320 on a 56 plate.
The aircon is switched off.
When i try and switch it on by going into the menu and unticking the option it just reticks the box and the aircon remains off.
I have put the system on manual and the fans show running at 7 but they are not blowing.
I have reset the system, which is now in german!!.
any help would be appreciated.
