Sat Nav doesn't not understand me

Any luck getting your Mercedes Me sorted?

Thanks. Not quite sorted but getting there.....I think!
The "call" button in the Merc decided not to connect to their help, so I couldn't link it. It took four calls before the final guy (possibly) sorted it, but he said, "It could take up to 48hrs". It's 48 hours later today, but it's still only partly done, or "incomplete configuration". I've done the ID checker and it wants me to "activate services", so I've done that, but it's still configuring! I hope the faffing is worth it.

This is the process when working, select a place or spot in Google Maps

Choose Mercedes Me from the Apps to share with.

Then in the car you will see.

Many thanks, @jimbg for sharing this. You did say 'when working'...I've had difficulty getting it to work, which may be down to me, but I did wonder if it needs a subscription after the initial 'free' period of 3 years. Also, do I need to set something in the car? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For info, Google Maps seems to be able to access the Mercedes Me app, but sticks there.

Ernie

Apologies, I am not sure how the "when" slipped in there! It works every time for me, I am still in the 3 year warranty.

I presume you are not getting the pop up Mercedes Me SEND box? Not sure which service you need for this to work I am afraid. :(

You can also send destinations to COMAND Online from Here WeGo, but only from a PC or Mac while using an Internet browser, i.e. not from the Here WeGo mobile phone app.

Sending a destination directly from Google Maps (i.e. not via the Mercedes me app) used to work until 2015, BTW.

Haha Rosetta, I'm originally from South Yorkshire and when I used to try the 'Hey Mercedes' in my ex's A35, it didn't understand me after the initial hey mercedes. I used to try to put a 'posher' accent on but not much success. I gave up in the end on the car and my ex 😀😀

Be thankful you don't have a new SEAT - to wake up the voice recognition you have to shout "Hola Hola" at it 😖

Try catching it out in German.... if it responds to Guten Tag, it has been rumbled.

Haha no thanks. I just offloaded a newish 69 reg Seat cupra 300 that lasted me 3 weeks. It felt extremely cheap inside. I only used the satnav to get home from collecting it and to part ex it at Leeds and I've never had such a painfully slow, unresponsive satnav. It was a nippy car and that's all. It felt very bargain basement in the driver's seat 😕

Thanks, Jim. I was hoping it was something as simple as that. The Mercedes Me app is still saying "incomplete configuration", going to give it another go tomorrow, and if not, I'll ring Mercedes, again. :wallbash: I'm wondering if it's because I bought the SD card from Amazon, rather than directly from Mercedes.

I bet that would get old, very quickly!!!

I don't think that the Garmin Map Pilot SD-Card has anything to do with the Mercedes me app.

With regards the message "Incomplete configuration", it's misleading, read the post linked here:

Ah, maybe that's the reason as I have Comand in my car.

I have also tried the HereWeGo website and app. The website seemed to work but nothing arrived in the car.
The app works OK but works the same way as Google Maps using the Share option to link to the Mercedes Me app.
So no benefit over Google Maps.

From memory, you need to go to 'Import POI' on COMAND Online to download the destination that you sent to the car from HereWeGo.

Haven't used it in ages because it does not really offer any great convenience over the old-fashioned method of typing-in the post-code into COMAND and saving the destination......

Ahhhh, I see. So "they" are basically wanting me to download all the £80 apps. 🤣o_O Nope.

Well, I'll give it a go with connecting/sharing the google route planner/GPS with the car and see what happens. I am no longer expecting it to work after all the faffing.🤣
Would be nice, though. I'm not that bothered about most fancy apps, I would just like an easy to use sat nav, and using my phone would be better.

Good news, though, I got my old-ish ipod connected via USB and it worked very quickly with no real hassle. Considering how much I hate IOS.

As Markjay says the SD card is nothing to do with Mercedes me. I also have audio 20. and purchased my original SD card from Amazon, which luckily included TomTom live traffic. The ones that you can get now from Amazon I don't think include this.

On my W205 C 200 2016, the Mercedes me app shows, vehicle status, service ,tyre pressure, trip data, and ECO display by default, which are all free. ( I only pay for the remote locking. which you purchase from the Mercedes me shop.) But all the others will still work regardless of what you purchase. For my vehicle the only other items listed to purchase are: Vehicle monitoring (where it is parked), and Stolen vehicle help.

This is exactly what I have. No live traffic.

Yes - it seems that the only way to know for certain that you are buying a genuine MB SD-Card and not a clone, is by buying it from a dealer (£99). The genuine SD-Card will have 3 Years Live Traffic included.

That said, MB officially charge £499 if the car never has the Garmin Map Pilot activated before, or £99 if it had been activated before (and therefore it is technically only an 'upgrade', although both SD-Card versions are identical and contain the entire software and maps....).

However, this is tricky, because as a second-hand car owner you can never be sure if the Garmin Map Pilot option has been originally specified but the SD-Card went missing at some point, or perhaps it has been activated on the car from new... I suppose the dealer has a way of knowing though.

I am no longer concerned with faffing for (at least) £99. :) I don't do that many miles as I live close to work, and work shifts, so don't do the 9 to 5 rush-hour thing. TBH, I do less than 6K miles a year.
If I did a lot of driving for a living, I would probably splash out.
