Sat Nav problem with E Class

My E class sat nav thinks I’m in the North Sea instead of Kent. Mercedes dealer has checked it today and say I need a new antenna and a new wiring harness for the antenna costing £100 in total for both + £250 labour charge.
They said there’s corrosion on the connector of the wiring harness which is inside the boot. Can anyone please tell me where to locate this as I’d like to check the problem myself? There’s no satellite signal showing at the bottom right hand side of the sat nav display.
The car is less than 5 years old and the dealership suggest this isn’t an uncommon problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

It is quite a common issue. You should find a connector from the left side of the trunk, close to the trunk lid hinge (behind the panels, assuming it is a sedan model and the RHD cars have the connector at the same side as LHD cars).

Some owners have fixed this issue by cleaning this connector (there is of course another connector at the navi processor), in most cases the antenna is replaced.

Hi

If you look here: -

COMAND APS Retrofit (E,CLS)

it tells you how to retrofit comand in an E class. More info then you need, but it does show you where the nav drive and wiring is and how to take out the left boot trim to access it.

You can put this

Comand Online Ltd :: COMAND Retrofit parts :: W211 last E, W219 CLS :: Genuine MB GPS Antenna and adapter for DVD and Hard Disk COMAND APS

Mercedes antenna under the parcel shelf (above the metal base plate, accessible in the boot (trunk) and plug straight into the back of the navigation processor instead of the existing one. GPS signals pass through glass and plastic but not metal

As I think you are not in Europe, there will be no 17.5% UK sales tax

Cheers

Richard

I'm sure Kent is still part of Europe....did I miss a directive this week?

Got the same issue in E 350 2009 could you by any chance provide me with pictures where to find these connectors ?
