Save a sweet penny on servicing !

Just wanted to share with you the following gem !
Servicing prices can differ greatly between dealers shop around !
Buy your own oil / filter you will save a lot doing this !
I just had my car serviced at merc today for £180 instead of £380 I had initially been quoted !

I've just looked at recent invoice and I was charged £63.50 + VAT for oil and filter.
I certainly wouldn't save more than about £45 by supplying it myself on my experience on a 651 engine

Depending upon the dealer, and the price they charge for oil, then the savings for supplying your own oil can be significant.

Last time I paid for oil at an MB dealer was probably 10 years ago, and it was around £13+VAT per litre then. Since I've mostly supplied my own or negotiated a deal which means I pay the same at the dealer as I pay through my own sources.

The MB parts counter does a cracking deal on oil. Just before Christmas I bought a 20 litre container for £60 including VAT. Bargain. I must go and pick that up (I walked out without it!)
