Saw possibly the best Merc ever made over the weekend...

Never heard of a w124 E73 .... Talbir would know though.

I have seen a w124 V12 7.3 , but that was a home build , not by AMG , AFAIK all the 7.3L W124's are custom jobs by enthusiasts ..

There's another V12 w124 in the background of this photo ...

Actually , it would appear that a few tuners , Vath , Brabus have done V12 w124's , but not AMG themselves , see this thread ...

The engine is indeed an AMG ( they make the 7.3 for the Zonda ) but the whole car was not put together by AMG AFAIK . So can't be called an AMG car .... . AMG engine , but another tuners work on the car ...

As i say , Talbir will know more.

Pringles - Do you ever want to sell that beast?

What an awesome car!

Thanks, I was joking . I thought my car had a respectable capacity at 3.6litre but a 7.3litre is twice the size and the mind boggles as to how that shifts !

And yours is twice the size of mine at a diminutive 1.8 litre..................

As you say........mind boggling........

Indeed, the Zonda uses an M120 engine. Relatively old technology now as we've had 2 newer V12's since then, but there's no arguing how well it goes ;)

I don't think AMG ever provided anything bigger than the E60. Apparently, the E60 AMG was a 420bhp beast, although Mercedes shown it to have 381bhp so it didnt overtake it's flagship S600/CL600 models.

Does anyone have any idea of the number of E60 AMG's from factory?

Presumably it was the 6 litre engine that became the basis for the 7.3 litre they put in the SL 73 AMG? I guess individuals have just reasoned "if AMG can make it fit so can I!!!!" I also appreciate the SL engine bay is somewhat larger than a 124.

6 litre was a bored out 5.6 litre ( V8 ) ...

The 7.3 is a V12

Theres a picture halfway down page 2 ;)

6 litre m119 is a bored out 5 litre m119 with a 5.6 crankshaft.

27k would have been right for an E60 Limited. This car is only an E60, there were 120 E60's made, about 10% of which were E60 Limiteds. A non-Limited version E60 would be more sensible at 15-20k.

cheers

V12's are generally only as long as an I6 and as wide as a V8 so if both of those fit a V12 should.

So how does a E60 Limited vary from an normal E60?

E 60 AMG

* EVO-II 17" alloy wheels
* Sportsline two-tone interior
* Birds-eye maple dark trim
* AMG Suspension
* AMG Exhaust
* 957 "AMG Technology Package" in VIN Number
