Some of you will remember the saga of the engine change to my 250TD, since then it hasn't missed a beat.....until tonight!!
Started up and drove off on dipped heads, as I was changing up into third there was a ding kind of noise, a bit like a solenoid, and the lights brightened! I hadn't noticed them being dim at all prior to this. Nothing else happened. What the hell could that be? Should I take it down to the scrapyard and give it another scare?
All help gratefully received.

Lights get brighter

The glow plug relay keeps the glow plugs on for up to 90 seconds after the engine starts to warm the engine faster & to reduce knocking

So you started in cold conditions, drove away in the dark with the lights on and saw the precise instant the relay clicked off!

That's my best shot, anyway!
