Second hand car sale and an unhappy new owner or attempted scam?

Keep your knickers on geezer. Donโ€™t take his comment literally.
I can assure you that all requisite undergarments are in their appropriate place! ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

We have to take comments as they are given. As I have often said the context is always difficult to get clear in a Forum ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜

I didnโ€™t come across to me as a post that needed a reply like that.
Each to their own.

I did clearly say in the first post that I was asking if others had experienced similar behaviour and that advice had already been given.

There was certainly no intent to offend anyone and if they felt so then my apologies ๐Ÿ‘

No one would offer a warranty on an 18 year old car that has covered 150k miles.
Exactly this! So no warranty implied either. You take your chances on a car that age/mileage. Anyone who thinks otherwise is stupid!

I was recently selling a 38 year old 180k land rover... agreed a deal contingent on me get a couple of things done and a new MOT, so took a deposit. Got everything done, new MOT as well. MOT failed first time but I got everything fixed to get a pass, but the buyer got cold feet and pulled out. Asked for deposit back. No chance, that's the whole point of a deposit!

Bottom line, Second hand car sales is a nightmare which is why so many avoid it!

I would have happily bought your LR!

You know they break down, that's part of the fun of owning them ๐Ÿ˜

The irony is, is was actually a bloody good one! New chassis, bulkhead, 300tdi replaced, full respray, new fuel tank and lines, new suspension, discs on the back, etc etc. They missed out ๐Ÿ˜‰

Who cares about a failed MOT if things are assessed?

That's an even better deal!

The best old landies are the ones with as few original parts as possible ๐Ÿคฃ
Thread digression......

Many years ago I was reading a LR magazine where technical questions were answerd.

The question was "How do I stop the grease from leaking out of the suspension arms" or some such

The answer "Stop topping them up!"

I had a Series 2A that had spent years on a farm.

It was in need of a little restoration.

I seem to recall that the transfer box required around 4 litres of oil.

I drained out 400 ml. After replenishing it there was no discernable diffeence ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

I'm adding to the land rover collection next week. I'll probably live to regret it. They're a bit like your naughty dog; always causing problems but you still love them really.

Unfortunately I sold my S2A as it just wasn't getting used.

We still have a LR but this one has a working heater, doors that stay closed, lights that illuminate the road etc.

It still has one thing in common though. About 15 mpg ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Although it does manage to produce 500 hp ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‚

Sounds like cheating to me ๐Ÿค” Where's the fun if there's no water ingress through the door seals?!

Is that an SVR. Nice ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Anyway sorry for the thread derailment ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

No, not at all. I meant that I had digressed. ๐Ÿ‘

Our second Supercharged RR. The first had the 4.2, now the Full fat 5.0 litre.

It is incredibly efficient at moving the gravel around the drive when madam is in control ๐Ÿ˜‚
