Recently my CDI became only a DI, when washing off the old glue I used what I thought was a soft scourer only to leave a patch where it looks as if the paint has faded slightly. Will a good polish/buffing take this back to normal before i put on the new badge?

Also anyone with Tanzanite Blue Metallic car, can you recommend a stone chip/touch up paint?

Firstly, I would avoid using any kind of scourer... leave them in the kitchen!

To treat the clear coat I would use a clay bar or paint cleaning product (very light abrasive) to take the dirt out of the surrounding paintwork.

Then apply some polish and wax to seal the treated areas.

Scouring paint is never a good idea, WD40 is good at removing glue. Assuming you've not gone right through the lacquer, it should polish back up. Be careful though, once you're through the lacquer it's respray time!

You can get get a tansanite blue stone chip touch up kit from Halfords(i know because my previous MB was that colour;)),they cost about £10,one tip, dont use the brush that comes with i but get a fine paint detailing brush & build the paint up as you fill in the chips:thumb:

Thanks guys. Great help.

Can only find Azurite Blue at Halfords

I've bought it there in the past, try online;)

rather than T-Cut i like the Autoglym Paint renovator it's much more gentle on the paint but gives very good results, then i'd use a good quality double sided tape (trim tape) to re attach the badge

yep trim tape, preferably 3M. metallic t-cut is good, and for sticky stuff wd40 takes it off well!

Methylated spirit is perfect for removing this type of residue and if you get desperate one evening when the shops are closed and your beer fridge is empty.......:D

Touch up paint pots were £10 from merc dealer for mine and wifes car comes with paint and lacquer same as halfords but defo right colour.
