Selling an AMG

A/Trader all day for prestige cars:thumb:...Ebay total waste of time:wallbash:

Just before I started to sell my E55, I literally got told not to bother with a different site from each person I spoke to until there was nothing left!

To be fair, this worked out as I sold it on here!

However, I would just try the cheapest offering first for a while and then work up.

At the end of the day, and no disrespect to those advising against certain sites, you cannot predict who will look at what and when. It's all down to luck at the end of the day as well as the other factors such as the car you are selling, asking price, time of year etc.

Eeek .. thought you were keeping it!?

Sell. Keep. Sell... I dunno.
If someone comes along with £11500 then they can have it. If not then I'll keep it until someone does.

If it's priced right it'll sell quick. I just sold my clk500 via autotrader earlier today for near enough asking price and I didn't get a sniff on the forums in around 2 months! It was only on autotrader for a few days as well.

What was your reason for wanting to sell so soon after buying?

So this morning I get an offer of -£12k which I accept. He can't make it up to Nottm, so I said I'd drive down to London. Got there, he had a look around took it for a 30 min drive check the paperwork and said yep love it how's £10k sound. At which point I smashed his face in took £50 petrol money and drove home. Thought I was doing the guy a favour. You live and learn

Never take a car to a prospective buyer. If they're genuinely interested then they'll make the effort to come and see it.

Like I say thought I was being helpful! Nevermind.

Never, ever, drive a car to a buyer you can bet your bottom dollar it's a messer!

...it also makes you look desperate to get rid of the car, and raises false expectations on the buyer's side.

And some buyers actually do this as deliberate tactics - pretty much in the same way that the likes of webuyanycar.com do - ie they are trying to wear you down hoping you'll tell yourself that since you've gone through all this effort you might as well just cut a deal rather than take the car back.

That sucks Rich.

I really would love it, but I cant get rid of mine after what ive put into it just yet.

If you've still got it next weekend I would love a nosey at it if your still up for that.

I see that now. He didn't sway me, he just peed me off... It was a lovely drive though... PS the bit about me smashing his face in was a lie. (But that's what I felt like doing)

GLWS....looks a lovely example. Surprised nobody has snapped it up. One of these has always been on my bucket list but it never seemed to happen for various reasons. I have just bought my QP now & love it to bits so not sure it will ever happen now.

I have to say that I really like your car. It was a toss up between yours and the one I bought. The only thing that swayed it for me was that after researching these cars and having never owner anything from the merc stable before, I decided that buying from a dealer would give me a 'safety net' (more to follow on that!).
I really fancied a car that didn't have a black interior and the level of spec on your car is huge. Also in the video you had the stone roses playing so that was also a plus point :)
I think the person who will buy will already know these cars well so is less likely to mess you about.

Oh and it turns out he was a dealer posing as a private buyer. I don't usually have this much hassle selling cars, been doing it for years.

I have just bought a car from a dealer and he said November was their worst time of year for sales, if that is any help.

I can well believe it! :(
