As the title suggests, I hate selling cars. Not because of the buyers, but because I get emotionally attached to my cars and hate saying goodbye.

This is particularly hard when you've had to make the decision to sell a car to a scrapper... In the last two months, I've had to sell a few of my cars...

Yesterday, I called a local scrappie to take away one of the probes (stop laughing) as they would offer more for it as scrap metal than I could get by selling it as a car (partly due to my poaching of parts for the other probe).

I been telling myself when selling a car that it's going to someone who'll have the time to take care of her... but in this case, it's just painful.

I wished I kept cars long enough to get emotionality attached. I've had plenty of practice of getting financially attached to cars - but I've just learnt to bite the bullet and move on. The very best cars I sell on to my father so I can monitor their future progress. He'll be getting another of my cars in a few weeks time.

It's funny, but I have never become attached to a car, it is in the end simply a lump of metal. The biggest impediment to me selling is normally not finding a buyer!

I'm quite the opposite... one of my cars I have no need for, I know I really should sell it, and the only moving it does is to the garage for it's service and mot... but I spent so long preparing her for something that never happened that I like her too much to throw her out in the cold...

Yup.hate selling cars or bikes. In my perfect world I'd shrink wrap them and pop them into safe storage.with only very few exceptions,( a Vauxhall chevete) I wish I still had all my previous cars. In particular an HB Viva, a magnum,a vx4/90,an SD1, a 190,smart roadster, the 109 Landrover safari
And on,,

If only I'd kept some of my old cars, i would be worth a fortune.
3 1275 Mini Cooper s's ( the old ones ), 1954 MK 7 Jag, 1963 Mk 2 Jag, ex works Monte Carlo rally Triumph TR3 etc. etc.
Only trouble was that 1) I couldn't afford to keep them at the time and 2) I didn't have a barn to keep them in.

Don't get selling that Duke though :(

I'm totally the opposite. Once I've made the decision to sell, then my attachment ends there and then. Normally it's because there's something new and shiny to take its place :)!

I always compare my cars to the mother-in-law, so getting shut is never a problem.

Having said that I should do it vice versa and keep the cars. :dk:
