I got this private plate when I bought the car (XX06 DEB) - trouble is that it's a woman's name and last time I checked I am not a woman. My girlfriend is not interested in changing her name and we both agreed it's not worthwhile seeing different people so that I might get a girlfriend with the 'correct' name.

Has anyone had success of selling a reg plate before?

I have seen one I would love on DVLA which is £250 , most of the ones with DEB in are £999 on the DVLA website.

sell yours for £300. its about the right price, or maybe £250.. simple no win no loose :)

yeah, that is what I was thinking of doing, I just wasn't sure where the best place was, there is a list of people on the DVLA site but as ever I would prefer to go off a recommendation or better still see if anyone on here would prefere first dibs :)

I've used Reg Transfers to sell a plate before (Number Plates, Private Number Plates, DVLA Registrations - CHEAPEST!) and currently have another plate listed with them. Also have previous good experience of Elite Registrations (buying).

Try both of those first. Some even buy registrations for stock and you may get lucky with the letters DEB. Otherwise you may need to wait a while to sell (the last one I sold took over a year).

Good luck...

Got your details so you can edit out now. Will mail you this evening as I am at work

Steve

Cool, power of the forum! Looks like you may be in luck. I was going to suggest listing it on here once your post count hits 30!

Thanks Gollom, I hope you don't charge finders fees! I can't edit my post, I think I need to do some more posting before I get that privilege, unless a mod could remove the email link in post #6

Hi Gollum, I eventually replied to you yesterday - sorry for the delay :(

I did get a quote from the regtransfers website and they told me I would get £800 if they sell it! :bannana: x 10

Yes, but remember it can take ages to sell.

yeah. that's no worries. The plate was a bonus as it came with the car I bought last week, I am in no hurry, if it sells it sells, if it doesn't then everyone person on the road will think:

1. I am driving my Girlfriends car
2. I like to dress up 'special' at the weekend

You'll be lucky. they do that to get you to put it on their books, then wait until they get someone interested and then make you a lower offer.

The offer I got was only about £50 lower. But as you say they have a big mark up. To give you £800 they would be looking to sell for about £1300

Yeah, the ones on their site are around the £1300 like you said but £800 (or £750) is better to me than just leaving it on the car.
