When I bought my car it came without a service book although as it was an ex-lease car it did come with a detailed spreadsheet of service items together with date and mileage.

I would quite like a service book though to stamp up in the future. Does anybody know if duplicates can be obtained.

If the services were done by Mb then I'm sure they can supply a new book all stamped up.

All the info will be on their database

I think you need to know which dealer the car came from because, as far as I know, there isn't a central database.

I bought the vehicle as an ex-lease car from an independant used car dealer in London and I haven't got a clue where it originated from.

Do they share a central database? Or would the OP have to go back to the servicing garage?

All MB dealerships share a database (with MB Germany) so if the works were done at a MB 'shop then the info will be available to all MB dealers

Though any dealer may give you a new service book, they will not tell you of repairs done to the car, the dealer that did the work can choose to tell you what was done

Are repairs recorded in the Service book?

Having had to do the same things on a couple of occassions, I was not aware that Mercedes are on a Central databasze for service info.....I had to track down the specific dealer in both cases as both my local and another MB dealer were not able to see other dealers service info, only that within their dealerships chains.

If you know which Lease company it was with you could try and track them down and they may be able to give you info on which dealer did the servicing or they may be able to give you a service print out, which tend to be quite detailed, ie they also show breakdowns, new tyres etc etc.

To answer your question - yes you can buy a duplicate service book via the dealers.

Give your VIN and they will order a new service book for you.

It will be brand new and of course blank, and will have DUPLICATE embossed across each page.

You can then start recording services from your present mileage onwards using the new book.

You already have the lease print outs for previous services.

MB have recently created a central database, and I know they have data going back to 2000, but it might go further back. Its a similar system to what BMW have had for years.
