Just wondered if for any reason the injector issue may have caused my 59 c250 CDI to fail last week. I thought I had just under a quarter tank and the car stalled. I looked at the guage and thought there was just under a tank of fuel but not completely empty, tried restarting several times and it turned over but not start. The reserve light was on and then assumed that maybe it had run out of fuel even though the gauge was not on empty yet and the trip computer was telling me there was 30miles left.

So I put 5 litres in and turned over 5 times and almost gave up. Tried a few more and then it started, so kind of assumed it had actually run out of fuel rather than assuming an issue with the engine or faulty fuel gauge.

Anyway just wondered if the experience I've had is common or if the P143 recall may have something to do with it?

I have just booked the car into the dealer, who say that the car thinking it had run out of fuel could be entirely due to the injectors pressure be low when the fuel is low and this software upgrade should rectify it in about 30mins.

here goes my first post

If you need info on why your vehicle ran out of of fuel, it's because the saddle tanks employed on the 204 uses a suction jet to transfer fuel from one side to another. the current coding to the fuel pump control unit was set to 4 bar at the factory. The campaign P143 (4,000 vehicles involved) is to increase the pressure and requires no parts to be replaced. It can be done on a while you wait basis (expect turnaround of 1hr inc a courtesy wash).

This is completely different to the injector issues currently being experienced.
